2007 PROVISO WEST HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT DAY ONE RESULTS

MORTON UPENDS EVANSTON
Game 1 -- Morton 40, Evanston 38  Boxscore
Making their first appearance on the Proviso West hardwood in 25 years, the Mustangs (9-1) shocked Evanston 40-38 in a battle of once beaten teams.  Joe Belcaster (13) and Oscar Macias (11) scored in double digits for Morton.  The Wildkits (9-2) shot 31% from the floor and were led by Sean Croegaret-Key who scored 11 points.

COMMANDOS OFF AND RUNNING

Game 2 -- Marshall 67, Proviso West 56  Boxscore
Making their first appearance at The Proviso West Holiday Tournament, Marshall (6-0) jumped out to a 42-24 halftime advantage and coasted to a 67-56 victory over Proviso West (1-7).  Ryan Hare scored 23 points for Marshall and Darius Smith added 13 for Marshall.  Dionta Moore (20) and Melvin Rowe (17) combined for more than half of the points for Proviso.

VON STEUBEN EDGES PROVISO EAST IN TWO OVERTIMES
Game 3 -- Von Steuben 83, Proviso East 78  Boxscore
The Panthers improved to 7-0 on the season, defeating the Pirates 83-78 in double overtime.  Mke Dinuno tallied 26 for Von and Deonte Lundeen added 23.  Derwin Gage led Proviso East (3-8) with 21 points.

HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS

Game 4 --  Homewood-Flossmoor 64, Fenwick 55  Boxscore
Homewood-Flossmoor (9-0) defeated Fenwick 64-55 to set up tomorrow's quarterfinal matchup against Von Steuben which will feature two unbeaten teams.  The Vikings were led by Kevin Dillard (23 points) and Supo Sanni (15).  Xavier Humphrey (15) led the Friars (5-4). 

GLENBROOK NORTH COASTS TO SECOND ROUND
Game 5 -- Glenbrook North 55, Saint Patrick 24  Boxscore
The Spartans (8-3) built a 20-9 halftime lead en route to a 55-24 victory over Saint Patrick.  Alex Dragicevich led Glenbrook with 15 points.  GBN shot 52% from the floor and held the Shamrocks (6-3) to 28% shooting.

WHITNEY YOUNG BEATS T.F. NORTH
Game 6 --  Whitney Young 58, T.F. North 37  Boxscore
The Dolphins held T.F. North to 14 second half points and defeated the Meteors 58-37 in their first round game.  A.J. Rompza (18) and Anthony Johnson (14) led Young (6-1).  Turhon Cora scored 14 for T.F. North (6-6).

SAINT JOE RUNS TOURNAMENT WIN STREAK TO 13
Game 7 -- Saint Joseph 67, Hillcrest 59  Boxscore
Three-time defending tournament champion Saint Joseph (9-1) won their thirteenth straight Proviso West Tournament game by defeating Hillcrest 67-59.  David Dixon (18) and DeAndre McCamey (17) paced the Chargers.  DeShawn Dockery led Hillcrest (6-3) with 20 points.

NEW TRIER FIRST TO TEN WIN PLATEAU
Game 8 -- New Trier 68, Morgan Park 50  Boxscore
The Trevians (10-2) became the first Proviso West Tournament Team to reach double digits in victories, as New Trier defeated Morgan Park 68-50.  Jack Boehm (21) and Peter Boehm (12) were high scorers for New Trier.  Ricky Hill tallied 12 points for Morgan Park (2-8).
