The Proviso West Holiday Tournament will have a series of new exciting changes for the upcoming 47th Annual event to be announced over the next few months.
Proviso West Athletic Director will assume the role as Tournament Director replacing Joe Spagnolo who was Executive Director the past two years. During that span the event returned to notoriety as the top event of its kind, as the tournament established both multi-year attendance and all-time revenue records.
“The last two years have solidified the Proviso West Holiday Tournament as the premier event of high school basketball during the holidays,” said outgoing tournament director Joe Spagnolo. “The last two tournaments have seen one of the most memorable individual performance with Jon Scheyer’s 21 points in 75 seconds and maybe the most exciting championship game in tournament history, as Saint Joseph became the only team to win three straight Proviso West titles”.
Along with record setting numbers, the tournament introduced pwhoops.com, the official website of the annual Christmas Classic, which is approaching its one millionth hit on the World Wide Web.
“The tournament is in great hands once again,” added Spagnolo who will be concentrating on an unannounced special project. “The players, fans and coaches of this event have truly made Proviso West – Where Basketball Is Best”.
