OPENING ROUND PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED FOR 46TH ANNUAL PROVISO WEST TOURNAMENT

In what is probably the deepest field in the 46-year history of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament, a series of outstanding first round matchups highlight opening round action for the annual Christmas Classic.  A record 14 of the 16 teams entered in this year's event were either currently ranked or were among the pre-season area's Top 25 or state's top 50 teams in various publications.  The first round game is as follows:

SESSION ONE -- Wednesday, December 27:
Game 1 -- Thornton Fractional North vs. Glenbrook North, 9:00 a.m.
Game 2 -- Von Steuben vs. New Trier -- 10:30 a.m.
Game 3 -- Proviso East vs. Saint Patrick, 12:30 p.m.
Game 4 -- Morgan Park vs. Evanston, 1:45 p.m.

SESSION TWO -- Wednesday, December 27:
Game 5 -- Proviso West vs. Homewood-Flossmoor, 3:45 p.m.
Game 6 -- Saint Joseph vs. Julian, 5:15 p.m.
Game 7 -- Hillcrest vs. Fenwick, 7:00 p.m.
Game 8 -- Whitney Young vs. Peoria, 8:30 p.m.
