2011 Proviso East wins their first title in twenty years to become the first school to ten Holiday Tournament championships in their 68-55 victory over New Trier. The Pirates were coached by former All-Tournament Team selection (1990) Donnie Boyce in his first year as coach and the Tournament MVP was Proviso East's Keith Carter, whose dad played on the 1984 Holiday Tournament champions for Proviso West. Rockford Auburn became the third team from outside the Chicagoland area to play in the event, as the Knights finished in third place. One of the strangest starts of the tournament began before Game One as Morgan Park was assessed a technical foul for illegal uniforms, but Hinsdale Central elected not to shoot the two free throws. The Red Devils ended losing the game by a single point. Results from 2011 TEAMS IN: Brooks, Rockford Auburn TEAMS OUT: Foreman, T.F. North |
