General Tournament Information

DATES: Wednesday, December 26, 2007 (preliminary round); Thursday, December 27, 2007 (quarterfinals); Friday, December 28, 2007 (semi-finals); Saturday, December 29, 2007 (final round).

DIRECTIONS: (Click here for a printable map)  Proviso West is ideally located between three major interstates, all within minutes of the school.  The school is on Wolf Road in Hillside between Roosevelt Road and Harrison Street.  From the East: Take I-290 West, Exit at the Wolf Road Ramp.  Turn left at Wolf Road and pass over the railroad tracks to the school.  From the North and West:  Take either I-294 South or I-88 East to I-290 East.  Exit at the Mannheim Road South Exit.  Turn right at westbound Harrison Street and proceed over the railroad tracks to the school.  From the South:  Take I-294 North.  Exit at Roosevelt Road East.  Take Roosevelt Road to Wolf Road and turn left.

PAIRINGS:  The game schedule will be released at the Proviso West Holiday Tournament Media Night on Monday, December 3. 

SESSION SCHEDULE:

General Media Policies

Procedure on Ordering Credentials:  All requests for media credentials must be made by e-mailing the Tournament Media Credential Form which can be accessed at the top of this page.  This process is the only way working press can gain proper admittance to the event.  There will be no walk-up or telephone requests will be honored on the days of the tournament.  The completed document must be received by December 14, 2007 to be considered.  Issuance of credentials to legitimate members of the media will at the sole discretion of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament.

Scouting Service and Basketball Publication Credential Policy:  It is the policy of the Proviso West Holiday Basketball Tournament that basketball recruiting services and certain basketball publications are intended to be profit making enterprises.  In order to qualify for consideration of credentials, each service publication must provide complimentary issues of the two (2) previous subscriptions with their request.  Credential applications will not be considered until this provision has been fulfilled.

Press and Participant Entrance:  Media members should enter the facility through the Press and Participant Entrance located on the east side of the Sports Arena Complex.  For your convenience, accredited media members may park in the East Parking Area, which is accessible through the Fencl Lane stoplight off of Roosevelt Road -- 1/2 mile east of Wolf Road.  Members of the press must show identification and sign in at the pass gate each day in order to gain admission to the facility.  Please note that the other entrances to the building will not be available for you to gain access.  Your cooperation is appreciated in following these guidelines.

Media Seating:  Due to the new configuration of the Sports Arena, designated media space will be extremely limited.  Working members of the media will be able to sit in the elevated press areas in the southeast and southwest corners of the upper gymnasium.  Electronic Media will utilize the West Press Area and print media will occupy the East Press Area.  Permanent spaces will be assigned to Daily Newspapers, Live Radio Origination and Television Broadcast Talent only.  All other members of the media will share the remaining spots, with priority to given to beat writers covering their team which is currently playing.  In the event that no seats remain, media personnel may need to occupy a general admission seat in the balcony.  Media Services personnel will assist members of the media in adhering to this new seat assignment policy.

Internet Access:  The Proviso West Holiday Tournament will utilize wireless internet technology inside its Sports Arena.  Traditional dial-up telephone service is also available in the lower concourses of the facility.  Please see Media Services personnel for additional details. 

Media Services:  Game notes, rosters, programs, statistics and other pertinent information will be available from Media Services personnel in the designated press areas.  In addition, media outlet fax service will also be available upon request.

Interview Policy:  Post game interviews will be allowed in the locker rooms of each team according to the local policy of each participating team.  With the exception of the championship game, we ask that you conduct all of your post-game interviews in the area off of the playing court, so that we may prepare for the next game or to secure the facility after the final game of the evening.  Team locker rooms are located on the main floor level and a schedule is available in the press areas.
