Plymouth Whitemarsh Basketball Camps

Plymouth Whitemarsh Boy's Basketball

Coaches

The Plymouth Whitemarsh Basketball Summer Camps are organized and managed exclusively by the PW Boys Basketball coaching staff. The staff takes a lot of pride in maintaining a culture of success at PW basketball, and works to instilling the same important character traits to the kids who join us at our camps and clinics: be positive, be a great teammate, display humility, develop a strong work ethic, and value winning.

Jim Donofrio: Boys Varsity Head Coach; Summer Camps & Fall Clinics Director
English & Philosophy Teacher @ Plymouth Whitemarsh HS

Coach Donofrio has been coaching at Plymouth Whitemarsh since 1991, when he took the reigns as the JV basketball coach. Seven years later, in 1998, he was named the head varsity boys’ basketball coach, and started the first PW summer camp in 1999. The camp is now entering its 21st year. Coach Donofrio, who was inducted into the Plymouth Whitemarsh Distinguished Graduate Organization in 2011 and the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017, has organized, marketed, and directed every single camp week since its inception.

Chuck Moore: Boys Head Assistant Coach; Camp Supervisor
Dean of Students @ TCHS Brandywine;

Chuck Moore brings a legacy of basketball success to the PW program, and much of it is home grown. A graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh, Chuck, as senior captain, led the Colonials to the 1997 state title. A standout division one prospect, Chuck initially started his college career at Seton Hall before transferring to Vanderbilt University, where he played a leading role for the Commodores for two highly successful seasons playing in the SEC. Returning home after college, Chuck joined the PW coaching staff as the head JV coach from 2006 through 2013, and assisted with the varsity team as it won the school’s 3rd state title in 2010. In 2013 he accepted the head-coaching job at Coatesville high school. In just his 2nd season Chuck guided the Red Raiders to the District 1 championship game. After a 5 year stint at Coatesville Chuck decided to return to his alma mater. An excellent teacher of the game and obvious success story as both player and coach, Chuck is an exceptional role model and brings a wealth of knowledge to our camps and clinics.

Robin Mitchell: Boys 9th Grade Head Coach: Camp Supervisor
Security Officer, PWHS Pennsylvania State Trooper (ret.)

Coach Mitchell has been with the PW basketball program since 2013 as both our head 9th grade coach as well as a varsity assistant coach. “Mitch” is another terrific teacher of the game, stressing fundamentals and an expectation that players play hard, smart, and together. His most recent Freshmen team finished the season at 20-0. Coach Mitch’s son, Andre, was PW’s starting point guard for two seasons, leading the Colonials to the district final and state quarterfinals in 2015, where he reached the 1000-point plateau for his high school career. He just completed his college career at Catholic University, earning his 1000th there as well. Coach Mitchell coached and oversaw the initial development of Andre and 3 other key PW starters. His experience in developing young talent makes him an invaluable asset to our summer camps and clinics.
